The Philippines has gained a new record of having the most expensive electricity in Asia, easing out Japan at the top.  This goes without saying that industries, which depend largely on electricity for its day-to-day operation, have become more vulnerable.  Among others, the retail industry is at the forefront struggling against the increasing prices as their energy consumption accounts to more than half of their sales.

ConservePhil, which is an intervention to promote energy efficiency for the retailers in the country, is an initiative implemented by TÜV Rheinland Philippines and Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation with support from GIZ, in behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and Philippine Retailers Association.   The ultimate intent of the project is to enhance the access of the retail sector in the Philippines to services that are related to resource and energy management.

ConservePhil web portal is one of the concrete actions of the project that allow key stakeholders to access and exchange of relevant information and experiences on energy efficiency practices at the retail industry.
